IWI Galil ACE 7.62X39mm Rifle at the range both suppressed and without suppressor

07/12/2021

The IWI Galil ACE employs an AK style long-stroke gas piston system and has become the favorite of many shooters. In the 1960's the AK was a proven battle tested all-star but the technology was dated and there was room for improvements. That is where Yisrael Galil and Yaacov Lior stepped in to tackle the legendary AK-47 and make it better. The fins first attempted to improve on the AK-47 with their version identified as the Valmet RK-62. Many of the first Galils were designed and built using RK-62 receivers. A few decades later we were gifted the modernized version of the IWI Galil ACE with improvements on protection against the elements, accuracy, and many more improvements. At the range it operated flawlessly and was a smooth shooting rifle. The felt recoil was minimal, it was accurate, and we just had a blast shooting it. The Galil has ambidextrous controls, a folding stock, Tridium night sights, picatinny rails hidden under the front handguard protectors, a nice crisp trigger, and as an added bonus a dust cover over the reciprocating charging handle slot.

The muzzle device is a Q Cherry Bomb and we were shooting Century Arms Red Army 122gr full metal jacket. The suppressor was an aluminum solvent trap with a steel blast chamber, Form 1 manufactured, to .30 Cal and a Q Plan B QD attachement system.
